BEAUTIFUL ENDINGS

“Everyone loves a happy ending”. I’ve heard that quite a number of times (possibly in my head) or in a movie of some sort. But it is a deep seated desire in rational human beings to have beautiful and happy endings. I literally avoid movies and stories that depict tragedy and so – called reality because one tends to lose faith in small concepts such as the one I am writing about – “Beautiful Endings”.  Ever watch a movie where so many horrible things happen to the main character? At first, the suffering and many tough situations and circumstances probably caught your attention. Maybe because some of these situations and circumstances are similar to yours or you just wonder how one could suffer so much in a lifetime, or you were just sticking around to see how much more the guy could take. Then in the middle of the movie, the guy loses someone or some people dear to him, and you are moved; you sympathize and there and then, new hope rises in you on his / her behalf, and you pra...

CHANGE

It’s been a long while since I wrote on here, it’s one of those things everyone does or should do every once in a while – re-evaluating priorities. I’ve tried writing other stuff in my ‘little break’ from reality; I’ve written a novel (fictional), I’ve read very little, thought very hard, avoided individuals and basically everyone who cares about me or my existence. I’ve got to admit it was not as I planned it to be, but I do admit that no matter how much you love your own company, it gets lonely every once in a while. Quite frankly, I never thought I’d be writing about this topic. I’ve been wanting to write it, but for some crazy reason I couldn’t. That crazy and insane reason was that I wanted to experience it before I wrote about it. I think you’d agree that that is not such a bad idea. Apart from the reality check, another reason I haven’t written on here is that writing is one way I say what I truly mean (even though it’s not easy). If I didn’t mean something, then I probably wo...

WHAT WENT WRONG?

WHAT WENT WRONG? As I write this, I feel a deep sadness in my heart, not for myself, but for the world around me. If you had a heart, you’d feel that sadness too. If you were to write you book of lamentations or write a book of all the terrible things life could present you, what would you write? What would you say went wrong? When you wake up in the morning really sad and depressed, and your next meal you do not know where it’d come from; or safety is not even sure in your own home. Or maybe you’re privileged to know where breakfast is coming from, but you don’t know how you’re going to eat it because you can’t. Or your family is scattered and in pieces and you lack happiness and peace of mind and all you can ask is – “What Went Wrong?” Maybe you’re a student and you don’t know how you’re going to pass a course or pass an exam honestly, and as it is, you’ve failed quite a number of courses; or you’re a youth and you feel really sad because much is expected of you and your life i...

THE WORDS I WOULD SAY 2

I woke up this morning feeling like there was something I had to say that I wasn’t saying. I felt like I owed you a few words. I am tired of waking up every morning and feeling there is something I am holding something back from you. So I put my computer on and started writing the words I would say. As you read this imagine I was sitting right in front of you, and I am speaking these words to you. I’d tell you just what you mean to me and how much I appreciate you and your presence in my life, and then I’d tell you these simple truths. You’d wake up some mornings and feel like you’ve nothing to be grateful for, life can be pretty disillusioning. But do not forget, you have everything to be grateful for. At that moment you might not feel that way but count your blessings and name them one by one then it would surprise you how much you have to be grateful for. This may be difficult sometimes; you might even say “I have never had a miracle in my life”. But consider the words from thes...

FRIENDSHIP

The bonds of friendship cannot be explained, it goes deeper than just being there for one another as we often define it to be. I have a deep desire to talk about friendship because it is such an abstract bond, one which I only imagine when I am lonely, one I only think about when I really need to, one which I dream of becoming everyday to the people in my life. What is friendship? It is defined as the mutual feelings of trust and affection and the behavior that typify relationships between friends. Taking this definition piece by piece and really appreciating its true meaning would require more than just a blog; it would require a lifetime experience, not one you read in books, but one only you can feel in your heart. But I would try. The whole concept of trust is one which to a large extent has been neglected. Our families are broken, our relationships with the people we love are being severed by ‘you don’t trust me and I certainly don’t trust you’ kind of thinking. But first of a...

BREATHE

As I write this, I’m kind of thinking this is a funny topic – Breathe. But this concept has been gaining my attention for the past few weeks. It’s the thought of being helpless sometimes in life that made me want to write about this, we as humans may not know how to solve our problems and take care of our worries, and we do not even know why they are there in the first place. But there is one thing we can do as humans, one thing God created us and gave us the right to do, and that’s breathing. What is breathing? It means to take in air repeatedly and alternately in order to stay alive. That is the definition I know you know. But one definition that you might not know is to relax and stop worrying about something or things in general. That is the definition I want to talk about. There is a time for everything under the sun, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to ...

ENCOURAGEMENT

Encouragement according to a well known dictionary is support of a kind that inspires confidence and a will to continue or develop. I think the definition fits the word, or doesn’t it? This word in question requires a great need, a man or woman does not need this word unless that need is there. Encouragement. I’m pretty sure this sounds like an everyday word when you say it. I mean, its meaning has never really sunk deep enough for it to have an effect in most people’s lives. We use and misuse this word as much as we like but it goes a long way in doing and undoing in the lives of people.                 “Encouragement”, each time you say or don’t say that word or act it in every instance and with everybody, something goes off or comes on in the lives of those affected. Encouragement could come in lots of forms; it could be a pat on the back, or just a word, or just a hug,...
